Our History

Paulsen Insurance Services took root when Max Paulsen, Rick’s father, in 1957 started with New York Life management in Waterloo, Iowa and in 1961, he moved to Stockton to manage the New York Life office. At a young age, Rick spent time in the General Office, soaking up the environment of opportunity, education, and positivity. His dad took him to Council Meetings and speaking events, encouraging him to learn from the examples of his own colleagues and mentors.

When Rick started his career in 1983, he didn’t have a book of business to assume like some who join the family business. But Max encouraged Rick to work harder than anyone else and with the solid character he knew he possessed.

With three generations and forty years in the business, our firm is poised to serve our clients in the way they deserve – with deep insight, care, and understanding. Because we know that when our clients are victorious, their families, communities, and even we are too.
